Mayor's Bike Ride

Mayor's Bike Ride

Join Mayor Greg Ballard for the Mayor's Bike Ride on May 16, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m. This is a free, public event created to help citizens get acquainted with the city's new on-street bike lanes connecting downtown to the Eastside, the Westside, Greenways and the Cultural Trail.

The bike ride begins at Memorial Plaza on Michigan St. north of the Indiana War Memorial and includes two routes - a 10-mile loop that incorporates the use of the trail in Ellenberger Park and a 2-mile loop that incorporates downtown's Cultural Trail. Helmets are the only requirement for this event. It is open to all ages and all skill levels. Anyone who wishes to tour the city from a new perspective is welcome to join.

For more information and pre-registration, visit: http://www.healthbydesignonline.org. Onsite registration will begin at Noon on May 16. For bicycle safety tips and bike lane rules, view the Mayor's PSA: http://indianapolis.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?publish_id=229
