Career Fair to Offer 800 Jobs

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard’s Indianapolis Employment Opportunities 2009 Career Fair on Tuesday, June 23 will host at least 45 businesses offering as many as 800* jobs, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Exhibit Halls 1 and 2 of Lucas Oil Stadium. And the pre-registered job seekers are displaying profiles of higher ages and education levels.

The pre-registrations for the event show that 253 are age 45 and older. The pre-registered job seekers in the age group 18-25 number 151. Another 231 fall into the age group of 25-25, and those age 35-45 number 179.

Pre-registrations for the career event show that 476 job seekers have earned educational degrees beyond high school diplomas. Another 174 pre-registrants have experienced some higher education courses. Those with high school diplomas only number 164.

The Indianapolis Private Industry Council (IPIC) and Indianapolis Economic Development, Inc. (IEDI) are planning the event.

“We are excited that we can bring this number of job openings to members of the community,” said Brooke Huntington, president/CEO of IPIC, “since our organization’s goal is to connect businesses and members of the workforce with job opportunities.”
