Colts Invitational Blood Drive Challenge

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to be a part of an exciting event at James A. Garfield/Phoenix Academy. Our school recently received very exciting news and we want you to be a part of it. We were selected to be one of six elementary schools in the state of Indiana for the Colts Invitational Blood Drive Challenge which is a collaboration between Indiana Blood Center and Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts Invitational Blood Drive is an expansion of the partnership between the Blood Center and Indianapolis Colts. The goal is to engage the community through involving local schools and families. The campaign empowers people to give back to others by providing blood which helps people through accident, injury, or illness. The Blood Center must collect 550 pints of a blood a day to keep hospitals stocked and a typical donor yields approximately 3 pints. It is a great way for Hoosiers to help other Hoosiers.

James A. Garfield/Phoenix Academy is excited to be a part of this inaugural event and will be holding it in conjunction with our Back to School night on August 20 , 2009. We are inviting as many parents, family members, and community members as possible to come and give blood on this night. Our hope is to make this an event where families can not only give blood but can also receive information and have fun. The school will be open to the community on this night from 5pm to 7pm and we would like to have community organizations come in and set up information tables or booths in order to interact with the neighborhood families, school staff, blood drive staff, and other organizations. We would like to ask your community organization to come be a part of this evening by setting up an informational booth from 5pm to 7pm on August 20th. The blood drive will begin at 2pm and any community members are welcome to come donate blood from 2pm to 5pm. The drive will continue until 7pm and we will invite our students and families to join us from 5pm to 7pm for the Back to School Night which will include games, informational booths, blood donation, raffles, and food.

All community members will be welcome to donate blood and participate in the fun. Posters are available for organizations to post if they wish and will be provided to anyone interested. We appreciate your consideration in this matter and feel it would be a great asset to our families if your organization were to attend. Please contact me to RSVP or for any additional information regarding this event or James A. Garfield/Phoenix Academy. We look forward to hearing from you.
