2ND ANNUAL CHINESE FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE FAMILY, HARVEST AND PROSPERITY

The City of Indianapolis will host the 2nd Annual Chinese Festival September 11-12, 2009 to celebrate the cultural heritage of Chinese people in Indianapolis. The Chinese Festival is a celebration of family, harvest, and prosperity, which corresponds with the traditional Chinese Moon Festival.

On September 11th at 7:30 p.m. Zhejiang Butterfly Performing Troup of China will kick off the Chinese Festival at Clowes Hall at Butler University. This opening performance will present programs featuring traditional Chinese instrumental and vocal music, folk dance, acrobatics and excerpts from famous Beijing opera classics.

Saturday, Sept. 12th events will be filled with activities exhibiting Chinese culture, from food and entertainment, to traditional clothing and art. In keeping with Chinese custom, the Chinese festival will close on Saturday evening with a lantern ceremony walk from Military Park to the White River.
