Mayor Greg Ballard announced today the launch of a new Spanish-language television program on WCTY-TV 16. The program is set to air weekly and will provide up-to-date information on events and issues happening in Indianapolis.

"Latinos are a vital part of our city's culture and community, and I want to make sure they are included both in receiving updates on how government is working and in knowing where and how to give us input on ways we can better-serve our entire community," said Mayor Ballard.

The new Spanish-language show was created to encourage Indianapolis' Hispanic/Latino population to utilize all of the city resources available to them. Many Hispanic citizens do not take full advantage of available city services due to limited English-language skills.

The first episode of the new program is set to air at 6:00 a.m., noon and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 11, 2009. Citizens who subscribe to Brighthouse can view the program on channels 16 and 17, Comcast subscribers can view it on channels 16 and 28, and AT&T customers can view it on channel 29.

"We need the participation of all of our citizens to make Indianapolis the most livable city in the United States. I encourage you to tune in to this program every week and find out what's happening in Indy," said Mayor Ballard.
