New Training Programs Offered

Kaplan College Opens in Southeast Indy
Electrical Technician & Medical Assistant Programs

Kaplan Higher Education opened a new Kaplan College campus in Southeast Indianapolis located at 4200 S. East St., which will help serve the community’s needs for career-focused education and provide local employers with skilled graduates in high-demand fields.

The Southeast Indianapolis campus is Kaplan Higher Education’s second campus in Indianapolis and its fourth in Indiana. The other Kaplan College locations include Northwest Indianapolis, Hammond and Merrillville.

Led by Steve Allen, executive director of Kaplan College, the campus offers two diploma programs—one in medical assisting and one in electrical technician. The programs are designed to aid students in obtaining the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required to pursue a wide variety of entry-level positions. The Southeast Indianapolis campus is Kaplan’s only campus in the state to offer the electrical technician program.

The college’s newly-renovated, 18,000 square-foot facility features seven classrooms, an electrical lab, computer lab and an allied health clinical lab that simulates a real-world clinical environment.

The medical assisting program concludes with an externship, giving students the opportunity to immerse themselves into their chosen career environment and gain valuable hands-on experience. The electrical technician program features a stick room that replicates the interior of a house ready for electrical wiring. Students will have the opportunity to practice hands-on application of electrical theory in the stick room’s simulated environment.

Kaplan College offers students job search assistance through its career services department and tutoring at no extra charge. The Kaplan College Southeast Indianapolis campus is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). ACCSCT is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. The campus is a branch of the Kaplan College Northwest Indianapolis campus.
