Volunteer Opp - Pleasant Run Planning

Exciting Projects coming up for Pleasant Run

We have alot of exciting projects coming up this year for Pleasant Run. In addition to the standard clean-ups, there is a large scale Lilly Day of Service project coming in May which will involve a tree planting with 500 trees along Pleasant Run that day. It will be led by KIB and will potentially include a vegetative swale, infiltration strip and/or bioretention along a segment of Pleasant Run. And if that isn't exciting enough, there is also a discussion going on with Tina Jones of Indy Parks about the fact that in 2003 the Pleasant Run Greenway was placed on the National Register of Historic Places with National significance and plans are being discussed to fulfill Kessler’s vision for the Parkway (it was designed by him originally).

To plan out all of these things, we are going to start back up the Pleasant Run sub-committee. Jonathan Mirgeaux has volunteered to lead it and we are looking to see who else would be interested in being on the sub-committee. We will meet over lunch like we do for the standard Public Space meeting, perhaps on the following Tuesday at 12:00, but that will be up to everyone's schedule that is interested. So just reply to jeff030167@indy.rr.com if you'd like to be part of this sub-committee.

Thanks for considering,

Jeff Miller
