Note from Major Myers - Kirby Prayer Vigil

Kirby Prayer Vigil

Please keep the Kirby family in your prayers. Their young son was killed yesterday morning as he was traversing Troy Avenue just east of Keystone. The Church of Acts, Pastor Bill Jenkins, 3740 S. Dearborn, is hosting a prayer vigil for the Kirby's at 8:00pm tomorrow evening, 11/21, at the church.

From the Police Report:

"This morning, November 19th, at approximately 5:45 a.m., IMPD officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of E Troy Avenue on the report of a person struck. They arrived to find a 15 year old male lying in the street after having been struck by a white Chevy S-10 pick up truck which had been east bound. From the preliminary investigation, it appears the young man, a student at Indiana Math and Science Academy at W 38th and Lafayette Road, was walking on the shoulder of the road east bound.

It is believed he started to cross the street in the middle of the block, stepping into the path of the eastbound truck."
