The Indiana Public Charter School Association is hosting a job fair for Central Indiana educators. Whether they are new to the field, recently laid off, or are just looking for a change of pace, please encourage folks you know to check out the job fair! Over 20 charter schools will be on hand, ready to meet future staff members, including teachers, classroom aides, administrative staff and Title 1 professionals!

Congressman Steve Buyer and State Senator Phil Boots are co-sponsoring the event. There are already 73 businesses signed up offering more than 2300 jobs. Transportation Job Fair is March 14

The IPS Transportation Department will host a job fair Sat., March 14, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Service Center for IPS (SCIPS), 935 N. Carrollton Ave. Enter the door marked Transportation Department; fair is on the second floor.

The department is particularly interested in hiring bus drivers and bus attendants. During the fair, visitors will have the opportunity to:

* Have in-depth conversation regarding each position
* View each type of bus within the fleet
* Tour the bus simulation training room
* Process an on-line application.

Mayor’s Re-Entry Employment Fair

When: Monday, August 4, and Tuesday August 5, 2008
Day One: 9 a.m.— 2 p.m.
Day Two: 9 a.m.— 4 p.m.

Where: Ivy Tech Community College
50 W. Fall Creek Parkway North Drive
Indianapolis, Indiana 46208

What:
Day One– workshop opportunities on the following topics for those with felonies seeking employment:
>Warning! Applications are Designed to Screen You Out! (Applications)
>How to Talk About Your Skills: Name, Demonstrate, and Prove! (Interviewing)
>Job Fair Secrets Revealed! (How to Maximize A Job Fair)
>Work – One, Two, Three! (Utilizing the Work One System)
>Basic Job Search – It’s Not Rocket Science! (Job Search 101)

Day two – Clients must be referred by a community service provider and must attend day one in order to return for day two of the employment fair. Day two will provide opportunities to meet face to face with employers who will consider hiring persons with felony convictions.

The Flanner House is assisting Work One in giving referrals for employment for people who have felony convictions. Please have anyone interested to call the flanner house to go through the referral process. The office will be closed Friday because of the golf outing.
