First Friday Open House - the mirrors project

"the mirrors project"
an installation by
John April

Where: AV Framing Gallery, 1139 Shelby St., Fountain Square
When: Showing September 5 -- October 25, 2008
Special Event: Artist Reception on IDADA First Friday Gallery Tour, Sept. 5, 5:00-9:00pm.
Parking: Free Public Parking lot across Shelby Street

The September installation at AV Framing Gallery is a full-scale application of a process developed in the winter of 2008 by artist, John April. The mirrors are sourced from an antique mall in central Indiana. the mirrors project is the answer to four of April’s most current research questions:

Can the writing process be displayed visually?

Are the materials, studio, and the ritual of a writing practice compelling visual art materials?

Is it possible to explore features of a narrative (drama, suspense, dialogue, setting) through visual art using the material developed in my writing practice?

Can the audience be incorporated into the work?

Come and see for yourself at AV Framing Gallery in Historic Fountain Square
