The Blue Monkey Sideshow

Free show at the Artsgarden

The Blue Monkey Sideshow marks their 10th Anniversary with a Free show at the Artsgarden. Saturday afternoon March 14, 2009. Sword Swallowing, Glass Walking, Juggling, Whip Cracking, and much more! Be in downtown Indianapolis to see it for yourself. Witness this amazing live modern vaudeville sideshow for all ages for free at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Showtime is 1 P.M. Come Early!

“We love this city, and are happy to give something back. Here’s your chance to treat yourself and your friends/families. Bring everyone to see this wonderful bit of Americana, and then enjoy an afternoon of strolling around downtown. It doesn’t get any better than free! Is your personal economy in shreds? So is ours!” says Krembo K., renowned Indianapolis Juggler. “We’ll give you a show; you hoot and holler and have a great time. We’ll feel wonderful for entertaining you. You’ll have memories to last a lifetime and even renewed self-confidence in your own decision-making abilities. We’ll have fresh video clips to help promote this Indiana made entertainment to the rest of the country. It’s a win-win event.”

Yes, he’s the emcee, the inside talker in sideshow lingo, for the Blue Monkeys. He’s never at lack of words to describe the theatrical roller coaster ride that is their show. These guys don’t arrive in a corporate jet. They still drive the same van that was drowned in a river in Kentucky, and then the next year stolen and set afire in Columbus, Ohio. But this doesn’t stop them from presenting a unique entertainment that enthralls young and old alike.

The Blue Monkey Sideshow is, in its own way, a celebration of the unique combination of talent and experience that creates each individual. “If you do one stupid thing, you’re stupid,” says Skanky, musician and second talker for the show. “If you do three stupid things, you have an act!” Skanky’s stupid things include the soft-shoe dance, the bed of nails, and lighting a firecracker between his toes. “Don’t try this at home!” Krembo often reminds us. “Go to a neighbors house!” (Skanky will add “We’re proof it’s not enough to just go to college! You have to study!”)

These five guys present a show that fuses comedy to skill in surprising ways. In the guise of the sideshow, they give the audience a chance to laugh, be amazed, and to ponder the wonders of existence. They can be reached at www.bluemonkeysideshow.com
