If you receive Disability or Veterans Benefits, please read

Close to 15,000 individuals or families receiving disability or veterans benefits have not filed for their Economic Stimulus Payment (ESP).

In an effort to assist any individual or family that may still be in need of services we are partnering with the IRS to hold two ESP days at Southeast Community Services.

1. We will be preparing taxes for any individual or family that received Social Security Disability (SSI does not count as a qualifying benefit) or Veterans Benefits in 2007 on Saturday, September 13 and Saturday, September 27 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

2. We are also in need of volunteers for this project. Volunteers will not be preparing a full tax return. You will simply complete by hand name, address, social security number, and one line on the taxpayers 1040; have the client proof read their information and sign in the designated area.

Individuals and families will not even have to mail in their returns we will have representatives from the IRS available to take to forms back with them to the local office downtown.

Free and quick training will be provided at 8:15 am at the Center. Any help you can spare would be appreciated including just one hour of your time.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please feel free to pass along this information to any of your community partners.
